The English weather certainly has a will of its own, particularly at this time of year. April showers and downpours in May are not uncommon. But who wants to wear a thick raincoat when it’s sunny and warm, just in case of a short shower? That’s when a Pac a Mac jacket comes in handy. Most are small enough to fit into your handbag and great for those unexpected showers. We’ve chosen ten of the best women’s Pac a Mac jackets in a range of prices and styles.
You can spend a fortune on a fancy Pac a Mac jacket, or, you can buy this one from M&S. Lovely bright colour block colours and what we think is super amazing is that this parka has been made from 50% recycled fabric from plastic bottles. It is shower-resistant and packs away into a handy bag. Sizes: XS-XL.

Nice plain colours which some people prefer, you have a choice of six including purple (shown), black, bright pink, dark teal, lilac or pale blue. Seasalt The Pack-It Jacket: £39.95
This Pac a Mac comes in a variety of patterns and colours so don’t be put off if you don’t like the one we are featuring. What we like is that it’s totally waterproof and the quality shows throughout. It has an elasticated hood which stops it blowing off and it packs away into its own little bag. Sizes: from 8-10 to 24-26.
There are three different designs in this style which is made from a lightweight material waterproof up to 5000mm. It is also windproof and has an adjustable hood with taped seams and a back yoke for ventilation. Loads of sizes available. Sizes: XXS-XXXL.
Three colours available including lavender (shown), green tea and navy. The material is shower-resistant but it is more lightweight than some of the other Pac a Macs we have featured. It includes drawstrings so you can tighten up the hem to keep you dry. Our only gripe, it does take a little practice to fold it correctly to get it into the bag. Sizes: 6-18.
There are so many different patterns and colours it was hard to pick one we liked the most. You really have to look for yourself. The material is lightweight but still waterproof and it has elasticated cuffs to keep out water. Sizes: 6-20 but some styles do not have every size available.
Totally waterproof and packs down into the smallest of pouches. What we like the most is that this doesn’t look like a Pac a Mac at all. You could easily mistake it for a waterproof jacket. Lots of nice added features like the dropped hem to keep your bottom dry and the storm flap which makes you warm. Sizes: 8-22.
This best-selling jacket is completely waterproof and will keep you dry in the worst of downpours. Not only is it waterproof but it’s also windproof and resistant to wear and tear. It includes adjustable cuffs and a drawstring. This is a jacket for serious hikers. Sizes: XS-XL.
