Here at the Shoppersbase office we have fallen in love with Victoria Beckham. No, not with her singing but with her business acumen. The girl least likely to go it alone from the Spice Girls has branched out on her own and made a huge success of her life. She has branded the name Beckham and produced a power couple that equals Brangelina.
Her designer clothing brand is sought after both here and across the pond, and now she has decided to follow all this up with a make-up collaboration. But not just any old make-up collab, Ms Victoria Beckham is taking on the Queen of cosmetics, Estee Lauder no less.
She announced the news on Instagram last Friday complete with a picture of her and the hashtag #VBxEsteeLauder.
She told her 9.8 million followers: ‘Excited to announce my limited edition makeup collection for @esteelauder! Autumn Winter 2016 x vb #VBxEstéeLauder.’
The 41-year-old mother of four also posted a short video accompanied by VB stating: ‘This is my opportunity to share, develop and really give that to women everywhere, which I am very excited about.’
The collection will launch in September 2016, but we have no details as yet. As soon as we hear you will be the first to know!
As for VB, she has grown as a designer and recently opened her first shop in London and in Hong Kong. Her latest autumn collection won critical favour and she was chosen to front the cover of Vogue China to showcase some of her own pieces.
Victoria is not the first person to collaborate with Estee Lauder. Our own Elizabeth Hurley has fronted many perfume campaigns, and models Kendall Jenner and Joan Smalls have recently worked with the beauty giant.
Victoria has hinted in the past that she would love to create a beauty range and Jane Hertzmark Hudis, group president, of Estée Lauder Companies, sounds pretty happy to have her on board too:
‘We are excited to join forces and bring Victoria’s take on beauty to her many fans around the world.
‘Victoria is an entrepreneur in the true spirit of our founder, Estée Lauder, with a real understanding of what women want, and a commitment to making women look and feel their most beautiful. Victoria has a passion for beauty and we are delighted to welcome her into our brand.’
Victoria added: ‘I am thrilled to be launching this limited edition makeup collection with Estée Lauder.
‘The whole process has been both inspiring and eye-opening – from going back and revisiting the Estée Lauder archives, through to working on the product with the Estée team, this feels like the perfect makeup partnership for me and my brand.
Victoria said: ‘I had long admired Estée Lauder the woman, and the powerful brand that she created, so I am excited to offer both of our customers this makeup range and play a small part in her vision for women.’
If her fashion label is anything to go by we can expect great things from this collaboration, as VB herself knows, work hard and success will come.
When she first launched her designer brand back in 2008 the fashion world were initially dubious, however, she went on to critical acclaim and silenced the naysayers by earning double the amount of her footballer husband David.
She told The Business of Fashion Magazine: ‘For a long time there, I was a bit of a laughing stock. And while everybody was busy laughing, what was I doing? I was laying the foundation to what I have in place now.’
She now has her clothing brand in over 400 stores in over 500 countries and is a favourite of many celebrities.
Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder launches in September 2016 and will be available in selected shops, online – and in Victoria’s clothes stores.
