Move over Amy Childs, there’s a new fashionista on the block and she is having nothing to do with fake tan or tight fitting bodycon dresses! Lydia Bright has revealed her brand new collection and in it she is channelling her love for all things vintage and feminine. The TV reality star of The Only Way is Essex has created a super gorgeous range of dresses and blouses, all inspired by her love of the fifties.
She spoke to the MailOnline about the new collection, called Lydia Rose Bright Limited Edition collection, in an exclusive interview: “I’ve always been into fashion from a young age. Growing up I was a huge Sex and the City fan and as I grew up I developed my own style and got an amazing platform on The Only Way is Essex so it came naturally that I would go into designing,’ she added, “My mum has always been very eccentric with her fashion sense and growing up she was changing her style all the time.’She was always one to try new things and never be afraid. I remember she once picked me up from school wearing a harem and said it was a new look she was trying out; that’s just my mum.”
Lydia said she researched her first collection by attending two fashion weeks, creating mood boards and trawled the stores for vintage items to inspire her. “I absolutely loved researching and designing the collection. It’s something I want to carry on now for the rest of my life. I am so passionate about this,” she said. Her style icon is fifties actress Marilyn Monroe and the 21-year-old starlet says that she has drawn inspiration from a host of eras but the 1950’s holds a place in her heart. “I just love the 50s and I am following what I know is going to be big but keeping my stamp on it with the lace crochet and chiffon. I love Dior and Chanel so I will keep my line classic and very floaty and feminine.’ she said.
And it seems that her boyfriend Tom Kilbey is one of her biggest fans. “Tom is really proud of me and he has seen how much hard work I’ve put into this so it’s amazing for him to see the final collection.” As well as designing this new Christmas range and filming the hugely popular series of TOWIE, Lydia also manages time to run her own boutique in her home town of Essex called Bella Sorella. In fact, she wears many of the clothes on sale at her store! “Most of what I wear is from my boutique. It is doing so well, especially in Australia now the show is being aired there. Even Kimberley Walsh popped in,” Lydia said.
Lydia is not resting on her laurels however, and is already working on a 25-piece spring/summer 13 collection of separates. “It will; be a privilege for me to see people to wearing my clothes. It will be crazy walking down the street and seeing people wearing the dresses I have designed.’I feel this is where my heart is now and I love it.”
