It’s that time again when thoughts turn to getting our bodies ready for whatever style bikini we will be wearing on the beach. But you can give your body a head start by choosing the most flattering bikini shape for your body. Whether you are tall and statuesque, small and petite or voluptuous, we have the ideal bikini style to suit your body.
Check out our guide below and find out which type of bikini will best flatter your figure.
Bikinis can get lost on a small figure if they are bland and uninteresting. A petite body shape can get away with bolder prints and more vibrant patterns, so choose a bright colour for maximum statement effect and to draw the eyes up your body, creating a longer look. To lengthen a petite body opt for bikini bottoms that are high cut; these will make your legs look longer.
If you have a taller figure then stay away from one piece swimming suits as it can be difficult to get one that fits properly. To add interest to a longer body opt for colourful prints and go to town on embellishments, ruffles, bows and ties. Anything that is eye catching looks great on a statuesque body.
Add a bit more oomp to your bust by choosing a brightly patterned top in a halter-neck style. A high leg or string pair of bottoms will accentuate your pins and opt for a bandeau top if you have muscular looking arms and shoulders.
Pear shaped figures
Go for darker colours on the bikini bottoms which will slim down larger hips and if you add a little ruffle detail as well it will have a double flattering effect. As fo tops, any embellishments or decoration will balance out your body shape so get adventurous on the top half and stay away from patterns on the bottoms.
Apple shaped figures
Ladies with extra padding around the middle can now choose from some great shape controlling bottoms that have panels to flatten a larger tummy. For the top section, halter-necks will pull up your bust and elongate your whole figure. Don’t choose tiny straps, the bigger the better and bottoms that a little fuller will give you extra confidence.
Curvy all over figures
if you have a classic hourglass figure that is curvy and voluptuous, don’t think that you have to opt for an all in one swimming costume. There are bikini shapes that will suit you too. Aim for tops that are underwired to give you a bit of extra support in the bust area and mid size bottoms that hug your hips. Patterns and bold colours will simply make you look stunning.
