Tartan is the trend to watch for Autumn

Well if Gok Wan says it, it must be true, and as he commented on Loose Women today, tartan and plaid is going to be all the rage for autumn this season. So what exactly should we be looking out for, if we want to look stylish and fashionable, and not dressed up like a Scottish bagpiper?

A few tips are to not go over board with the pattern. Look for tartan trims on the pockets, a splash of tartan for instance on the collar or hem line. Or stick to one item featuring the pattern, such as a dress or skirt, but then dilute the print with a coat, a cardigan or a jumper.

Another great way to wear tartan or plaid is to mix up the colours, so be brave and choose a different hue not necessarily associated with the standard red and green of typical tartan. Look for lovely autumnal colours like berry purples, muted browns and oranges, even pinks and blues.
