Tablet vs Laptop: Which One Should You Buy?

Ever since the first iPad was launched, dozens of new tablet PCs have been released, each of which is said to be more efficient, resistant and beautiful than its competitors. However, laptops remain extremely popular and with hundreds of different models, choosing the right one for you can be a daunting task.

Now, there is a number of factors that you should consider before making a decision, such as price, portability, resistance, quality, comfort and purpose.

The first question you should ask yourself is “Why do I need a computer?”.

Will you take to work everyday? Do you need it to download music? Watch films? Design websites? Keep in touch with your friends? Study? If, for example, you are a writer, I suggest you stay away from tablet PCs, as most of them come with 7-inch wide screens and remaining focused on such a small screen for more than 3 hours would almost certainly give you a headache. Students, writers, web designers, photographers and all those professionals who rely on tools as Word, Power Point, Excel, Photoshop, Frontpage or Dreamweaver to study and/or work, should definitely opt for a quality laptop.

Here are a few excellent options:

Frequent travellers and commuters, on the other hand, might find the portability of tablet PCs extremely covenient. The only disadvantage of travelling with a tablet PC is that you will always have to keep an eye on it, as tablet PCs are way more fragile than laptops and netbooks. If you are planning on taking your tablet into dangerous circumstances or stuffing it in your bag, at least make sure that you buy a case that is made of shock-resistant material.
