You may not have heard of micellar waters but make-up artists always use them and most models would not be without them. So if they come with such a high recommendation, why do we not know more about them?
What are micellar waters?
Micellar water is a skincare product that is used to remove all make-up and cleanses the skin at the same time, but without the need for rinsing.
Micellar water is made up of tiny micelles (hence the name) that float in the water.
These micelles contain cleansing agents that work like a magnet to attract any dirt or oil on your face, which then can be wiped away with a cotton pad.
Micellar water first became popular in France, where Parisian women wanted an alternative to the harsh mains water that was so damaging to their skin.
The beauty of micellar water is that they remove all kinds of make-up, even waterproof mascara, without any harsh effects to the skin. They are a gentle way of cleansing and are great if you have no water, or are in a hurry.
As micellar water originated in France, most of the best and well-known brands are typically French, with La Roche-Posay and Bioderma the stand-out labels.
