Celebrity Helfie – the new type of selfie, based on hairstyles

Are you one of those people who are getting a little bit fed up with your friends posting endless pictures of themselves, in various poses on social media sites? Well, join the club, but unfortunately the ‘selfie’, the fairly new phenomenon of self composed and posted snaps shows no signs of abating, in fact, the selfie has now evolved, into an evil twin sister – the ‘helfie’.

The ‘helfie’ is a new type of selfie, based around your brand new hair style that you want to show off to all your fans. It is thought that the term was coined after Beyonce revealed a stunning new short cropped pixie cut, completely different to her usual long curled and flowing locks.

And her fellow celebrities are following suite, with super stars such as Miley Cyrus posing with her shaved bonce, Miranda Kerr showing off her new curled tresses, and selfie obsessive Rihanna, displaying her brand new hairdo.

Most helfies are posted up on stars’ Instagram accounts, where their new blowdry, colour change, natty cut can receive instant worldwide exposure.

The helfie is an easy picture to take, as is the selfie, you just have to make sure the focus is totally on your hair. So position the camera so that your new hairdo is centre stage, or that the main difference of your new hairdo is prominent, and snap away until you are happy with the results.

So, for example, if you have a beautiful chignon at the back, you can use a mirror to take the perfect helfie, similarly, if you have newly plaited braids on the top of your head, position the camera to capture that. Your face actually doesn’t have to be the main focus remember, you are showing off your new hairdo.

But remember the rules, a helfie is to show off a brand new hairstyle, a helfie should focus mainly on your hair, and finally, as with selfies, a helfie should always be flattering.
