£14,000 is a figure that’s a yearly salary for some, or half of a yearly salary for many others. However, recent news has
suggested that it’s also the amount of R&B singer Rihanna’s weekly hair bill! This therefore poses the question as to when something is too much, and does a celebrity really need to spend this much on having their hair done?
For me, I spend about £60 every six weeks on having my hair done, and that’s for a cut, colour and finish. I obviously don’t have television appearances or gigs like Rihanna does, but even if I did, I doubt I’d blow that amount on my hair. When I think about the amount that could be brought each day with
£2000, or how much it could help those suffering in the world on a daily basis, it puts Rihanna to shame really.
Some will say Rihanna earns her money and can do what she likes with it, which is partly true, but I’m sure a significant amount of people will struggle to comprehend how someone could spend this amount on just a small part of how they look. That’s without other daily costs incurred by most celebrities, such as a Chauffeur, Stylist, and management team, for example.
However, at least Rihanna’s been making the most of her hairdresser, Ursula Stephen, as she’s reportedly had thirteen different hairstyles since her memorable bright red hair do in November. Additionally, it seems she’s keen to hold onto her, and that they’re almost inseparable, as a result of being good friends, too.
Rihanna apparently enlisted the help of Ursula after making it clear to her management that she didn’t want to be just another pretty celebrity. Instead she wanted to be recognisable, with a different look about her- one that would need constant attention. And it’s worked. She definitely well known for her edgy looks and confidence in the hairstyles she goes for, so well done Rihanna, at least your achieving something by paying out £672,000 a year on your hair! However, I don’t think your fans will be following in your footsteps somehow…
