It seems that literally anything Rihanna touches is a massive sell-out, and with the success of her signature lipstick RiRi Woo, which sold-out online in less than three hours after launch, MAC cosmetics have lasted no time in asking her to create an autumn/winter collection.
Rihanna’s new collection launches next month and although the autumn and winter collection has calmed down a lot (no blue lipsticks in this palette), it has Rihanna written all over it. What we love about a Rihanna collaboration is that she puts 100% into everything she works on, so whether it is an eyeshadow or a pair of jeans, you know you are getting the full on Rihanna treatment.
So what are we getting with Rihanna’s A/W MAC collection? Well, as we said, the colours are more muted, but expect some surprises, I mean, we are talking the bad girl of pop here. So we have a frosty cool orange, purple berry, subtle nude and blood red lipsticks, and her new season eye palettes come in sparkly metallics and smokey cocoa browns, toned down but bold enough to make a statement.
Rihanna’s history with MAC goes back a long way, as the Barbadian singer wears MAC cosmetics whilst she is on tour, and considers the company the label to go to for colours and quality.
She was first approached by MAC back in February 2013 to front a campaign for a new lipstick and for the singer, it was a no-brainer to agree to a collaboration: ”When you think of make-up, the brand that pops into your mind — for something legit — is MAC. Whatever colour you want, it’s like let’s go to MAC. I’ve been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me.”
It seems that designing and creativity is in Rihanna’s blood, as it is not just her singing that helps her to reveal her personality: “Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets. My make-up looks, my fashion looks…they help me to express myself as an artist.”
The collection will be available at MAC stores starting on September 26th, online on September 30, and in all other locations October 3 through October 31.
