Rachel Zoe, the US fashion stylist, is best known for collaborating with celebrities and fashion houses, and for fronting her very own stylist programme – The Rachel Zoe Project. As a stylist, she has worked with many famous celebrities, such as Lindsay Lohan, Mischa Barton, Mario Orejel, Nicole Richie, and Keira Knightley.
Her current CV includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson, Kate Beckinsale, Debra Messing and Anne Hathaway. Zoe, is credited with starting up the ‘boho chic’ look, of wearing oversized jewelry, loose-fitting dresses over trousers with a hippy 70’s edge. Now Zoe has launched her own jewellery line, full of statement pieces and art deco glamour items.
You can purchase Rachel Zoe’s collection exclusively at Neiman Marcus, and although the range may be small, it packs quite a punch. Rachel Zoe told the Los Angeles Times, “It’s fancy but it’s not…. I’ve never been subtle.” Zoe added that it was a conscious decision to make her first debut collection tightly edited, explaining that it will get bigger with each season.
However she promised the design will always remain true to the Rachel Zoe aesthetic. “My ready-to-wear, footwear, handbags and jewelry are always going to have that ’60s and ’70s undertone, but with a modern touch and a reincarnation every season,” Zoe said. The collection features 14 karat gold plated necklaces, bracelets, cuffs and earrings, some which are encrusted with Swarovski crystals, others with colored quartz, and some with black and cream enamel. The Rachel Zoe collection starts from $195 and ranges in price to $650.
In amidst some of the more outrageous Rachel Zoe pieces are a Love Me Knot bracelet for $325, a 54” Long End Tassel Necklace for $650, Black Quartz TearDrop Earrings for $250 and a Wide Crsytal Bracelet Cuff for $495. Zoe, who turned 40 this year, said that she has always been a ‘fashion-obsessed stylist’ and that she designed her jewellery collection ‘for the effortlessly chic girl that loves to look glamorous but still wants to have fun.’ Speaking to Racked, she said, “When I finally started working on it, the inspiration just flowed.
People want fun things that they can wear with jeans and a T-shirt and make their look that much better, which is why each piece has a lot to it.” And if you do fall in love with a certain piece that becomes popular, you should always still be able to purchase it, as Zoe says, “I’ll always bring new pieces in, but the pieces that people love will remain core.”
It is expected that once the Rachel Zoe jewellery launch in Neiman Marcus progresses into other stores next year, the range will also increase and include smaller, more subtle pieces. Zoe says that this is ‘for the girl who wants to make less of a bold statement.’ Zoe designs her jewellery pieces in Los Angeles, whilst her clothing collection is designed in New York, and it is here that she will present her spring 2013 collection at fashion week in September. She commented, “I’ll be including jewelry on the runway for my spring 2013 show, which is exciting!” We can’t wait!
