Pottermore available on PlayStation Home from April 2013

Gaming fans of Pottermore are about to get an unexpected treat, as there is now whole new way to experience the Pottermore site. The website, based on the series of Harry Potter books, has hooked up with Sony, and launched Pottermore at PlayStation Home.

Here you can experience a fantastic new 3D environment, and take part in a gaming platform, using beautifully illustrated moments from Pottermore.

As Playstation Home is a free 3D gaming community, participation is completely free, and you can play and socialise with players from all over the world.

If you have progressed past Chapter Seven of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone on Pottermore.com, and have been sorted into one of the four Hogwarts houses, you’ll be able to link up your Pottermore.com account to your PlayStation Network ID and gain access to additional content and spaces.

This new 3D gaming experience allows you to customise your very own avatar, with a range of outfits that include house robes, casual wizard attire or uniforms. There are also a selection of companions to choose from, which feature 14 different owls, cats or toads. You can enter Diagon Alley™ and step onboard the Hogwarts™ Express. Inside the 3D experience is a Pottermore quiz, Pottermore Trading Cards which you can swap and share with your friends, an illicit Wizard’s Duel to participate in, and four new mini games to take part in.

Charlie Redmayne, CEO of Pottermore, comments: “Pottermore reaches across multiple digital platforms, and our ongoing partnership with Sony has allowed us to forge this exciting connection with Playstation Home, creating the most immersive experience possible within that space and giving users wonderful new ways to explore locations from the Harry Potter stories. Following the successful launch of Wonderbook: Book of Spells, this is another example of the creative collaborations Pottermore is developing to bring the world of Harry Potter even more ingeniously to life”.

And don’t worry if you do not have a Playstation account, as the boffins at Pottermore have a completely separate team who are working exclusively on new content to the Pottermore site, and are dedicated to bringing you new innovations and are currently working hard on the third and final installment of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on Pottermore.com, which should be available in the coming weeks.

For those with a Playstation account however, you can find out what you’ll need to get started on PlayStation Pottermore Homepage website.
