The hugely popular Australian actress and comedian Rebel Wilson revealed that she is set to launch a plus size clothing range.
The Pitch Perfect star Wilson, who recently hired her very own Hollywood fashion stylist, stated that her clothing line would be ‘dope’, and have a nod to her native Australia, with specially designed Koala T-shirts.
Wilson is collaborating with the US label Torrid, with sizes available between 12-28 and the release date is said to be November.
Wilson recently stunned audiences at the red carpet with the help from her Hollywood stylist Elizabeth Stewart. The esteemed stylist has completely changed the comedian’s wardrobe.
Wilson once turned up for an interview with Jay Leno in a blue Adidas tracksuit. Since her meetings with Stewart however, she is now trying to look ‘classier’.
And it appears that Stewart is clearly pleased with her new client’s efforts, as back she shared a picture of Rebel wearing a beautiful Marina Rinaldi black coat and Christian Louboutin flats in New York, on her Instagram account.
She captioned the picture: ‘@rebelwilson looking very glamorous in NYC in her @marina.rinaldi coat!!!!’
Wilson admits that she doesn’t have a clue when it comes to dressing herself:
“I don’t have much fashion sense, I try. But I’m actually using Cate Blanchett’s stylist now because I’m trying to class up my whole image and go after an Oscar. It takes years, so I’ve started now, 2015, but it’s part of the whole plan.”
Wilson announced on Wednesday that she will release a 25-piece collection under the ‘Rebel Wilson for Torrid’ label.
“I’ve never really felt like there’s a brand out there in the plus size world that is creating cool stuff, that fits well and is good quality yet affordable,” said Wilson of the partnership.
“So it was awesome to team with Torrid, who are doing such a great job making plus-size fashion relevant and dope.”
Pieces within the collection will include Wilson’s own quirky take on fashion, with cute signature koala prints and microphone-shaped hardware, which signify her love of the stage.
CEO of Torrid Lisa Harper said of the collaboration that she believes it is Wilson’s attitude of being young, fearless and fun that will inspire girls of her generation to want to wear her brand.
“Rebel’s also got a natural instinct for design. She’s been hands-on throughout the process and cares about every detail, down to the diamante rivet on the jeans,’ added Liz Munoz, Torrid’s SVP of Design.
The collection is a capsule range and will feature dresses, tops, bottoms, jackets, dresses and accessories.
Prices for the limited edition collection start from $28.50 with the highest prices set at $125.00. The line will launch instore and online from November.
