Pining for your ex? New Dating app lets you find partner just like them

We’ve all experienced that one love of our lives that we cannot seem to let go, and now one dating website have come up with a solution to put a stop to all our love woes. Match.com have created a new app that uses face recognition technology to help you find a partner with similar looks. The dating site have teamed up with a U.S firm called Three Day Rule that not only takes pictures of your ex to pick out possible future dates, but also uses personality tests to make sure that they have similar traits to your old partner.

But the new app doesn’t come cheap; it forms part of Match.com’s high-end service and costs $5,000 for 6 months use, and includes a dating coach to help you along the way. Match say that everyone has a certain type when it comes to partners and relationships, and based on your old pictures of previous dates, it can pick out potential new partners based on facial characteristics, such as face shape and facial features.

To use the app Match.com users are asked to upload photos of their ex which will then be analysed to match them with similar characteristics. But its bad luck for those people who are signed up to Match.com and are gay, lesbian or bisexual as apparently the technology is not available for these types of matches.

The new app is also not currently available to US users but if it proves to be successful in the UK it could be rolled out to US consumers later in the year.

Talia Goldstein, the founder of Three Day Rule, spoke to Mashable: “People have a type and it’s not necessarily about height or race or hair colour, but a lot of it is about face shape.” She added: “I’ve noticed over my years in matchmaking that people have types. I always ask my clients to send me photos of their exes.”

Goldstein said that although people may not think they have a type, in viewing photographs of their exes, they do appear to have similar facial characteristics, such as facial features, even if sometimes their skin or hair colour is different.

If you are a member of Match.com you can upgrade to the premium service within the basic account. The new app doesn’t just use facial recognition technology but a combined approach using in-depth personality assessments to find a suitable match.

And those who do sign up to the premium service can then choose to go on a ‘pre-date’ to make sure that the match is a good one, and not a waste of time.
