He is best known for teaming up with Daft Punk on the hugely successful and catchy ‘Get Lucky’ tune, which was so prevalent this year in the clubs and bars over the world. But Pharrell Williams is no one trick pony, in fact, the three times Grammy Award winning artist is set to take the musical crown from Jay-Z and Kanye West, as both these American rappers have fatherhood on theirs minds.
Before he rightfully takes center stage however, there is the little matter of a collaboration with Moncler, the French Fashion label, established since 1952. At first glance, the teaming up of this high end brand and the 40 year old singer-songwriter might appear to be an unusual collaboration, but take into account Williams’ natty dress style, and his popularity right now, and the match seems perfect.
Williams has been persuaded to give his Midas touch to a new range of men and women’s sunglasses, and he will even model them for the up and coming campaign.
In a report from WWD, the frames will be made from one unique piece of titanium, and there will be a decidedly futuristic look about them. Indeed, Moncler describe the sunglasses as: “halfway between futurism and Fifties Style”, and are very happy that Williams is back on board, having previously designed a range of jackets for the brand back in 2009.
Moncler president Remo Ruffini states: “He represents the very best of all that is contemporary, creative and international, the same characteristics that underpin the entire Moncler project and the Moncler Lunettes collection.”
The Moncler label embraces the traditional with a modern twist and uses the latest technological advances to perfect their collections. The new collection is set to be showcased at this year’s Paris Fashion Week on 26th September, to mark the debut opening of Moncler’s flagship store, and will then go on sale online at the end of September.
The sunglasses are said to have a unisex appeal, and have been created using the idea of an over-sized mask, whose features will include a lightweight flexibility, with thick sides and durable resistant, and the models can be worn by either sex.
Once the Paris Fashion Week has finished, you can expect to see William’s designs on sale through most Moncler boutiques, online and through various high end stores and international opticians.
Williams is internationally known for his unique style, and says about his fashion choices: “You know what? It’s all about individuality. The things that set you apart, they’re what make you special.”
