Women’s orgasms. It’s a tricky subject but one company have decided to tackle it.

OMGYES is a website dedicated to showing women how they can achieve an orgasm. And it already has a celebrity fan base, with our very own actress Emma Watson singing its praises.

The website uses interactive videos which are described as idiot proof, so even if you are pretty shy about your own body, you should be able to follow them.

There’s a one-off signing up fee of just £19 and once you’ve registered you can start to learn using the online training programme. There are dozens of training videos, all designed to help women not only achieve an orgasm, but to learn how to control one for lengthening the pleasure.

To make the training videos, the researchers asked over 2,000 women about their specific bedroom habits and how they managed to orgasm.  The resulting training videos are short, most under 4 minutes long, and interactive and can be acted out on a touchscreen device.

The website states: “The women on the site are not actresses. They were inspired to share their personal experiences and wanted to set the record straight about the realities of women’s pleasure.

“They come from all over the USA – and have diverse careers, families and lifestyles.”

The tutorials focus on clitoral stimulation rather than penetration and look at different motions.

Emma Watson was speaking to renowned feminist Gloria Steinem when she mentioned her love of the website. Watson was on stage with Steinem at the How to: Academy in London last week when she talked about the website. She said a friend of hers had recommended it:

“It’s based on research, which is a complete study on female sexuality,” Watson told Steinem.  “It’s a pretty cool website. I wish it had been around longer.”

She added: “Definitely check it out. It’s an expensive subscription – but it’s worth it.”

So far, around 20,000 people have taken her advice and signed up to the website, and interestingly, not all are women. Around half are men and half are women.
The website has an answer for this:

“Some people use it alone, some use it together with their partners.”

The secret to the site’s success is the interactive nature of the tutorials.

“Everyone remembers things in different ways – reading, seeing, hearing,” the site states. “But for really detailed things like fingertip rhythms and patterns, actually doing them and getting feedback works the best.

“In the simulations, you can get them wrong and then get them right so the concepts become crystal clear.”

There’s nothing new in this way of learning: “The web has helped people explore and learn just about everything else – from languages to musical instruments to entire college degrees – it’s time we applied some of that magic to women’s pleasure.”

OMGYes addresses some of the myths surrounding women’s pleasures, and hopes to dispel them.

There’s also the hope that websites like these might go some way to educating men when it comes to women’s sexual preferences. As many young men appear to be getting their knowledge about women and sex from the porn industry.

In that respect, the fact that the information is coming directly from women themselves is of major importance.

A representative for OMGYES.com told the New York Daily News: “We got $4.6 million in funding and are doing that research.

“Instead of just making academic journal articles, we’re making the findings practical, real, and experiential in the form of documentary interviews – both explicit and non-explicit – with real-life women, not actresses.”
