We may be a little too late for Christmas, but if you are a forward planner and are already thinking about what to buy that person who has everything, how about personalising their high tech gadget with some serious bling? For a hefty price, Computer Choppers will cover your favorite device in an assortment of white, rose and yellow gold, as well as copper, black and silver chrome. The company’s founder, Alex Wiley, explained to CNNMoney: ‘We’ll take an iMac, an iPad, a tablet of some sort and we’ll strip it down to bare metal, we’ll engrave or personalize it for a customer and then go ahead and plate that with 24-karat gold.’ And it’s not just a precious metal plating that Computer Choppers offer either. For an extra fee, you can have custom made engravings and feature up the company logo in multi coloured diamonds.
Typically a laptop covered in 24 karat-gold encrusted with diamonds will set you back a cool $30,000 and it you think it must be only wealthy Americans forking out this sort of money then think again, as Mr Wiley said that 90per cent of the company’s orders are shipped internationally.
The specialty platings include silver, old English gold, champagne gold, almond gold, honey gold, rose copper, bronze, and pewter and recently purchased items include a $30,000 13-inch MacBook Pro, a $14,500 Rose Gold Plated iMac with a 24-inch screen, and a $20,000 platinum MacBook Pro with a customized, multi-color diamond logo – which was made for a customer in Azerbaijan.
Computer Choppers allows the customer to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece of electronic art, and although the company has built a reputation on customizing Apple products, they do provide services on most any computer or electronic item.
With over 50 different decorative finishes available for treating your electronics, and each type of plating has two distinct finishes: brushed and polished, you can request customizations made for multiple finishes on one product or combinations with other surface treatments.
You can also ask for custom patterns, logos, text, and other vector art to be added to any of their plated products. These types of graphics can be submitted by the customer or created from scratch by the graphics team.
Computer Choppers was founded in 1996 as a computer customizing company but quickly found a niche fabricating one-off high end computers for electronics fairs worldwide. Since switching to specialty plating and jewelry in 2007, Computer Choppers have successfully added their luxury customizations to Apple Computer’s famous product line, instantly creating a niche for luxury computer goods never before seen. Computer Choppers has since brought their unique style and extravagant designs to hundreds of typically boring computers and gadgets the world over.
Considered some of the most luxurious computer products on the market today, Computer Chopper’s owner Alex Wiley used his computer experience and business acumen to create a name for himself in Apple circles around the globe. Dubbed the “Mac Daddy” in 2007, Alex created the world’s first Gold Macbook Pro laptop and promptly followed it up by glitzing the entire Apple product line with speciality plating and diamond jewelry.
Computer Choppers custom products can now be seen in the hands of celebrities and athletes worldwide and continue receiving rave reviews for their over-the-top style.
