Natural Remedies: Skin Problems (Part 2)

Skin ProblemsSkin problems can make us feel insecure and have a negative impact on our daily activities. When we meet someone, the first thing that they look at is our face, which is why spots, blackheads and scars caused by illnesses like chickenpox are so much dreaded, especially by teenagers. Speaking of teenagers, there is a particular skin disorder that torments millions of people during their entire adolescence, making them feel ugly and insecure: acne vulgaris, commonly known as acne.

In most cases, acne is caused by a significant increase in testosterone, a hormone which both males and females develop during puberty. However, this unpleasant skin disease is very common among adults as well, including celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Daniel Radcliffe and Britney Spears.

Acne is characterised by red skin, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, nodules and other visible signs which make the skin look unappealing and, at times, oily. There are various lotions that can be applied to reduce and minimise the effects of acne. These “remedies” can be quite expensive and usually contain chemicals which may damage the skin or affect the body in the long run. The good news is that there are numerous alternative remedies which you can prepare at home using nothing but natural, hence affordable ingredients.

1. Soft Fruit

Put 50g of strawberry, raspberry or blackberry leaves in 1,5 l of water. Wait for the water to reach full boil and leave the fruit soaking in the water for around 3 minutes. Let it cool down and use a cotton disk to apply it to your skin. This natural remedy soothes the skin and reduces itching.

2. Tea and Basil

Put 3 tea bags in 0,75 l of water, wait for it to boil and add some dried basil. Leave the dried leaves soaking for 15 minutes. Use a cotton ball and apply gently, making sure that the skin absorbs the liquid.

3. Honey and Cinnamon

Put some honey in a jar and add some cinnamon powder. Stir the mixture and apply the paste before going to bed.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera can make miracles for your skin. Not only does its juice moisturize the skin, it also heals burns and reduces the effects of acne. Get yourself an Aloe Vera Plant and apply its juice everyday.
