Her dresses and bikinis were an instant sell out on the Littlewoods catalogue, and no wonder, for as soon as she wore an item, fans wanted the exact same piece. But now Myleene Klass is hoping her magic will work on a new make-up range, launched last week with the same catalogue.
The make-up has a decidedly 50’s vamped up feel, and Myleene said: “I hope women love it as much as they love my bikinis!” So do we think that they will? Well, we think there is a huge difference between selling a clothing range and a set of make-up items. For a start, a dress can instantly transform you, you can see immediate results when you put it on, and Myleene has undoubtedly an envious figure. She always looks gorgeous when she wears her dresses and bikinis, and ladies imagine themselves looking the same.
But make-up is a different story. You cannot really get the same effect with make-up, and Myleene is not well known for having great make-up tips, or having an overly made up look. So will ladies make the connection between Myleene and make-up? It’s not that obvious, and the cost of the items may also be a little overpriced for the type of girls who are fans of Myleene.
However for Myleene, it was the next natural step: “It seemed like the most natural progression as I am always asked about what make up I wear. I’ve also been extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to work with world class make-up artists so have learnt some great application tricks. I’ve hand-picked the best, most effective products and put them into a capsule collection that contains everything you could wish for in a make-up range.”
Prices for Myleene’s make-up collection range from £15 for lipgloss trio, £19 for a set of three lipsticks, an eyeshadow quad set for £15 and £49 for the whole collection.
Myleene said: “I love playing around with different make-up looks. With so many women asking me how I create my look, I jumped at the chance to create my own line. For me, it’s all about wearing colours and shades that work well with your skin tone.”
And her favourite item in the make-up range is the lipsticks: “I love the lippys,” she says. “They are bright, bold and eye-catching plus the packaging looks fantastic on your dresser or in your bathroom so would be a shame not to display it.”
Littlewoods retail director, Gary Kibble added: “Our customers always respond so well to Myleene’s new collections, they really see her as a glamorous yummy mummy, so naturally, the next step was to extend her range to include beauty.”
