I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again, there’s something about the colourful zigzag stripes of Italian luxury brand Missoni that just makes my heart sing. So whenever I hear of a collaboration with the Milan-based maestros, I always check it out, in the hope that I might finally be able to afford a Missoni piece for myself.
So it gives me huge pleasure to announce the latest Missoni venture, a partnership with the All American brand – Converse. The Andover, Massachusetts-based sneaker label will receive an Italian makeover, with six of their Chuck Taylor All Star styles getting those all-important striped zigzags. Any Missoni fan will spot that the sneakers are coloured in Missoni’s infamous knit hues of monotone black and white to pink, purple, teal and beige.
The capsule collection launches on August 4 at Nordstrom instore and online, before following out to all Converse stores nationwide and online on August 28.
This isn’t the first time Missoni have collaborated with the lower end of the fashion market; who could forget their Target collections which sold out within minutes instore and online. And their Bugaboo strollers proved to be a firm favourite with the likes of celebrity mums such as Kate Hudson and Adele.
The problem for serious Missoni fans is that once these collaborations are underway, the iconic pieces often get snapped up by people who just want to sell them on auction sites such as Ebay to make a quick buck. So for dedicated aficionados, they have to snap up these collections pretty quickly.
The good news is that so far, the Converse All Stars Missoni collection has not sold out on the website, so for all you Missoni fans you still have a chance to grab your favourite colour and style. The sizes start from 5 and go up to 12 with half sizes available, and the other good news is that, as with most collaborations, the prices for the sneakers are really affordable, ranging from $85 to $100. Not bad for a high-end luxury brand.
