Those of us who watched the programme ‘Signed by Katie Price’ may be feeling a tad let down now it has finished and the winner has been revealed. Not that she is not a worthy winner, far from it. Amy Willerton, 19, is naturally beautiful with a strong head for business which is obviously what Katie loved about her.
The problem is that now Katie’s production team have their mitts on her, she looks like Katie’s younger and more prettier sister. A comparison I’m sure Katie would not wish for. But the former glamour model and reality star denies that she was looking for a double act, saying, in an interview on This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Ruth Langsford, that the last thing she wanted was to find ‘just another one of me.’
Despite the uncanny likeness between the two ladies, Katie insisted that “We are so not alike. Thank God! We are not the same at all. Even the way we dress, but I say ‘You’re your own person and you wear what you like’.”
Amy was told at the start however, to change her image and not to wear certain clothes. Katie admitted telling her that and remembered saying, “But when we met her she dressed like a proper old lady and I’m like, ‘You’ve just not got to dress like that!’” Amy agreed, recalling the incident and said, “I was told to burn my flowery dresses straight away!”
In photographs released to the press to mark the end of the series and announce the beginning of Amy’s official signing to Katie’s modelling agency, the double act wore exactly the same outfits, consisting of black catsuits with plunging necklines and fishnet panels, and bright and red orange heels, making it even harder to tell who was who.
Katie, 33, was asked by the presenters on This Morning, what attracted her to Amy and she replied, “She stood out a lot and for nineteen she’s really mature for her age and even if you’ve got a product, I can put her anywhere and she can just talk. She’s got the look, the body.”
Katie continued, “I mean, some people have got mixed views on Amy and I think when you first meet Amy, a lot of people are like ‘she’s fake and she’s this and that’, but I think when she’s nervous she talks a lot but she’s really not like that.” Amy has been accused of having a rather abrupt and brusque character.
On this she commented, “I just like to get it right and when I do my work I want it to be exactly how I want it and when you’re creating your own brand you have to stick with what you want to do and what you want to be otherwise you’ll end up like somebody else.”
Katie has now got her work cut out for her as she has just come back home from a holiday in Miami, where photographs of her in a revealing bikini on the beaches, show that she herself has still got the looks to model.
But she told This Morning that she will be busy concentrating on building up Amys’ career. “I’m mentoring Amy, she’s with my company Black Sheep Management, and obviously I want people to know that I’ve not got into management and not doing my career – because there’s still lots more that I’m doing! I’ve not finished with myself… but I’m in a great position that I can mentor someone with my expertise because I know the tricks of the trade, and I can now pass them on to Amy.
I’ve still got my underwear, my perfume, everything… there’s no way, I’m anywhere near retiring. I’ve got my deal in America so I’m off there in a middle of the year.”
Speaking of future plans, Katie said, “She’s contracted [with me], but if she wants to go, she can go, but I don’t think she wants to go anywhere! That’s important for anyone out there actually, when they go to agencies, you always find agencies that just want to sign them up, its like you shouldn’t have that worry, its nice to have that confidence anyway.”
And it looks like there will be no time for holidays for Amy. The duo are heading off to France this week as Amy revealed. “I’m going to Paris at the weekend, for Paris Fashion Week – we’ve got so much planned, a completely different angle and there is so much surprise coming because everyone thinks I’m going to be copying Kate.”
Too late for that Amy!
