If you are used to wearing dingy grey underwear in an attempt to smooth down your wobbly bits, underwear that you would not want anyone to see, then Marks & Spencer may have the answer. Their latest line of BodyShape underwear has been designed by none other than Collette Dinnigan, the fabulous Australian based fashion designer. Born in South Africa, Dinnigan moved to New Zealand, then Australia, where she obtained work with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. She has since gone on to launch her own dry clean lingerie label, opening her retail store in Sydney, and in 2000 she opened a store in London’s fashionable shopping quarter – Chelsea, to celebrate ten years working n fashion. The V&A Museum have showcased her label in their highly prestigious series of live Fashion in Motion Exhibitions.
In 2001, Marks & Spencer invited Collette Dinnigan to create a branded collection of lingerie exclusively for them and her Wild Hearts by Collette Dinnigan recorded impressive results. In 2004 The Collette Dinnigan Enfant collection was launched, which was inspired by the birth of her daughter Estella and in 2005 she celebrated ten years of showing in Paris with an intimate and exclusive lunch at the Hotel de Crillon. To top it all, she has even appeared on a stamp, as part of the Australian Legends series, the Australia Post issued a stamp which featured her. She launched Collette Dinnigan Bridal in 2007 which is is a formulation of decades of providing beautiful wedding dresses to brides seeking something unique. In 2008, as part of their collaborative designer program, Target Australia invited Collette Dinnigan to design a collection of lower priced mass market lingerie, joining the ranks of Stella McCartney & Zac Posen. Finally, in 2010, to mark 20 years in business, Collette by Collette Dinnigan was launched, a diffusion collection. David Jones becomes the main stockist, rolling the label out into 34 stores and building 7 flagship concept stores. It is stocked by Net a Porter and in 2011 over 100 retailers globally.
Now, in 2012, Couture Control by Collette Dinnigan is M&S’s latest lingerie launch and follows on from the huge success of the store’s Collette by Collette Dinnigan lingerie collection. The collection is a shapewear range which combines M&S’ technology and Collette Dinnigan‘s creativity. There are six pieces so far in the collection which include a body that helps to streamline the waist to create an hourglass figure, a shaping slip to enhance the bust and create a smooth line under clothes, a sweetheart multi-way bra, Brazilian knickers that help to shape the bottom and high waisted knickers to smooth the hips and flatten the stomach. These are undergarments you definitely wouldn’t mind being seen in!
The Couture Control collection by Collette Dinnigan will be available exclusively at M&S in store and online at www.marksandspencer.com from 13th October 2012.
