She won over a legion of fans, with her heart-warming and fun-filled performances on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing, and even prompted the typically dour judge – Craig Revel Horwood to exclaim: “You can dance!”
But now the 37 year old actress has hung up her sequined salsa dresses, her ballroom gowns and stepped into an altogether different fashion realm, as Evans announced that she is to be fronting their new Autumn/Winter collection for 2013.
The high street store are delighted to have Lisa onboard, as she embodies the typical Evans lady, fun, proud of her curves, and wanting to wear clothes that are not only fashionable, but are also flattering.
Lisa is a size 18 and therefore the perfect choice to showcase the label’s newest designs, I mean, what is the point of hiring stick thin models to advertise and display a plus size range? You want to see how the clothes are really going to hang on an actual plus sized lady, who is not only confident, but gorgeous too.
And Evans obviously agree, stating that was one of the reasons they asked Lisa as she is ‘a true advocate of a positive body image,’ adding: ‘She also proves that you shouldn’t shy away from bodycon just because you are curvy.’
Lisa says that as she is always being asked what she is wearing, she is now looking forward to being able to tell people: “As I am always getting asked what I’m wearing, it has been brilliant to show off my style credentials and prove that fashion shouldn’t have size limitations.”
Lisa made her name as fiery barmaid Mandy Dingle in ITV’s Emmerdale, and then wowed audiences with her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing last year. She appears to be unstoppable and this is in no doubt to her loveable character and personality.
Having always worn clothes by Evans, it was a bit of a no-brainer for Lisa to join forces with them, still she was pleased to be asked: “Evans has always been a firm favourite of mine, so it wasn’t a hard decision when they asked me to model the new season collection. The best part was I got to choose my favourite pieces.”
And Lisa’s favorites include the biker jacket, the purple lace bodycon dress and the glitter ankle boots, of which Evans said all their footwear was ‘designed with comfort in mind’ using flexible soles and wide fittings.
The Evans label starts with sizes from 14 to 32 and includes flattering bodycon and silhouette dresses, biker jackets, lace skater dresses, floral printed tops and glamorous gowns.
The Evans Autumn/Winter collection will go on sale in stores and online this September.
