Mention the name Linda Lusardi to men of a certain age and you’ll see a dreamy glaze come over them. The former glamour girl was a firm favourite amongst guys in the mid 70’s and was actually voted Best Page Three Girl of All Time in 2005. But this gorgeous lady is not just a stunning beauty, she has proved her mettle in many fields, including acting in the popular soap Emmerdale and The Bill. She has also entertained children all over the UK in pantomimes, and often stars with her actor husband Sam Kane.
Now it seems that the talented 55 year-old has decided to design a range of clothing for ladies over 50, and in keeping with her trim figure and laid-back lifestyle, the clothing range features comfy but stylish jersey lounge-wear.
Teaming up with online store Jami, Linda launched her new fashion range yesterday at posh London hotel The Bloomsbury Hotel.
And the ex model is proud of the fact that the brand supports the UK clothing industry, as she explained: “All the garments are made inside the UK. The quality of the fabric makes them long-lasting and they won’t go out of shape in the wash.”
Linda has also paid special attention to the problems that ladies over 50 have to deal with, such as the slightly wobbly tummy and the bingo wings. Linda says: “Many women over 50, as I am, do not want to have their arms showing and sometimes their waistline is not as slim as they would like, the fact that you can layer these colours and styles makes you feel more confident about your figure.”
And although the clothing range has been designed for the older lady, Linda reckons that younger women can also find something in it that they like. She says: “Having said that, the range is also cross-generational – my teenage daughter has introduced all her friends to it!”
Items in the new range include pretty two piece lounge wear, with lots of forgiving draping over the tummy area and longer sleeves to hide any flabby underarms. And the prices are pretty reasonable too, with long plain cami tops starting at £24, leggings at £39 and yoga pants from £54, and there are dresses from £60.
Linda took much of her inspiration from her real life, and chose colours that she liked to wear and fabrics that she felt comfy in. She says: “The fabrics and colours that we are using are easy to wear and comfortable – this is exactly the type of style and design that I love.”
But there are some items in the range that are definitely not just for lounging and leisurewear, as some just need a bit of bling and could easily transform from a day outfit to an evening piece. Linda explains: “The versatile range allows you to dress up in high heels and jewellery for an evening out or simply put flip-flops on and wear them on holiday.”
