Americans who are fans of the Royal Family, and in particular the Duchess of Cambridge – Kate Middleton, will now finally be able to emulate her sophisticated style. U.K brand Hobbs is opening stores all over the U.S in selected Bloomingdale’s.

The stores are located in New York, Boston, New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsylvania, and early signs are that shoppers love the chance to dress like the future Queen of England.
The move to create a physical presence in the U.S comes after online sales went through the roof, after only a short space of time. Clare Dobbie, who is the marketing and e-commerce director at Hobbs, confirmed that since the brand launched a dedicated U.S website, online sales had been “taking off like a rocket”. In fact, online sales have improved by a massive 50%, which meant that there was a real demand from U.S customers.
Hobbs has been established since 1981 with their first store located in North London, and has been the staple must-have store to go to for middle classed women. It wasn’t until Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa started regularly wearing their clothes however, that the popularity of Hobbs’ clothing really took off.
The 32-year-old Duchess has been spotted by the media wearing a number of classically tailored Hobbs clothes; from dress coats, summer dresses and party frocks. And typically, once an item of clothing was spied and identified, it more than often sold out in store and online. A recent example is the red dress worn by 30 year-old Pippa Middleton at the 2011 Wimbledon final, and a brown dress coat that her sister Kate donned on Valentine’s Day, which consequently sold out within an hour.
Kate has previously worn clothes by Hobbs when she has visited the U.S, and she chose to wear a Hobbs beige bandage dress when she met the First Lady, Michelle Obama for the first time. She also caused a sales frenzy when she donned a green dress coat for a St Patrick’s Day parade. And it’s not just the expensive items that the Duchess loves to wear, with her eye for a bargain, she choose a pretty tea dress, priced at £30 to wear at the launch of a new sports project in London last year.
Other celebrity fans of the brand include singer Joss Stone and Kim Sears, the girlfriend of British tennis player Andy Murray. It is Kate however, who has brought the label to the publics’ attention, but U.S customers are also likely to be attracted to the stylish British tailoring that Hobbs offers. Hobbs chief executive Nicky Dulieu agreed, stating: ‘We believe customers will be attracted to our rich British heritage and reputation for quality tailoring, footwear, coats, dresses and accessories.’
