Not content with taking the UK’s fashion industry by storm, it appears that the new Duchess of Cambridge is having the same effect in Canada with her amazing style and changes of outfits mid-flight. The Canadians have long been loyal fans of all things royal, but their appreciation of our newest addition to the Royal Family is somewhat overpowering as everywhere Kate goes, copycat dresses appear and designers rush to emulate the Duchess’s immaculate style. From the moment she left our shores, in scenes similar to the ones Princess Diana encountered on her first royal engagements, Kate is now being photographed and her outfits are being scrutinised from hats to shoes and everything in-between. We take a look at the dresses that have made Kate a style icon from her trip to Canada and tell you where they are from and how you can buy them.
Kate boarded the plane for North America in an outfit by British designer Roland Mouret. The classy dress and blazer complimented her slim figure perfectly and was a nice choice for flying, very practical and perhaps easy to slip out of. Which was exactly what she did.
As when she landed she emerged fresh as a daisy in a British Canadian combo by Erdem Moralioglu. The stunning navy and white laced dress looked immaculate on Kate as she stepped off the pane with Prince William to greet their fans at the Macdonald-Cartier International Airport in Ottawa.
On the day in which it would have been Diana’s 50th birthday, Kate chose a beautifully understated grey dress by one of Diana’s favourite designers – Catherine Walker. Catherine Walker was also a good friend and confidante of the late Princess and it is this understanding that clothes can mean so much more than style, but bring emotional and positive reactions that Kate seems to capture so well whenever she picks out an outfit.
Reiss is a favourite High Street store of Kate’s and she often wears the same outfit or dress over and over again. Here she is seen recycling the white Reiss dress she wore at her official engagement photo shoot, coupled with a red hat and shoes to compliment the Canadian flag colours. Another nod to diplomacy between the two countries.
It is rumoured that for the nine day trip, Kate has taken over 30 outfits with her. We and the Canadians cannot wait to see what she will wear next!
