The Kardashians, they’re a bit like Marmite, you either love them, or you hate, them. Well, actually, it’s a bit simpler than that, you’ve either heard of them, or you haven’t.
For those who have, you’ll be excited to learn that unsurprisingly, they have just released a brand new beauty range, and for non-fans like myself, the collection is not half bad. For those of you who haven’t heard of them, forget the overhype, disregard the massive publicity surrounding them and their entourage, and prepare to be pleasantly surprised by the affordability, the quality and the no nonsense packaging of the collection.
The Kardashian Beauty range (formerly known as Khroma Beauty), is an affordable cosmetics collection, created by Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian and has been tested and approved by each of the girls. The range is already a huge success in the US, and now it has launched over here, the Kardashians are hoping that their British fans will love the products as much as their American ones.
So are they any good? Well, we here at Shoppersbase have been disappointed with the out dated fashion offerings from the girls, but we can’t say the same about the beauty collection. Although the packaging is a little cheap looking, the products themselves are good quality, long-lasting, and come in a great range of upto date shades.
Take the Lip Plumping Shimmer Honey Flavored Lip Gloss, £11.95, with a gorgeous honey scent and a huge sponge tipped applicator, you can immediately feel the tingling sensation as the plumping ingredients get to work.
The Joystick Lip Stick Pen, £10.95 is a super creamy lip crayon, which has staying power and comes in a range of shades.
One of the more popular products is the 24k Prime Mask, £17.95, which is a mask designed to enhance your natural skin tone and you apply it to your face and neck as a primer and then leave it for five minutes before rinsing off and then applying foundation. The mask gives your skin a bright look and healthy glow that you don’t get from other products of this price.
I always have problems choosing a non clump mascara so I was interested to try the Whip Lash Health Mascara, £11.95, which comes with the claim that that it won’t clump, flake or smudge. The small brush meant it was easy to cover every lash and so far there have been no smudges.
All in all, a really good first cosmetics range from the girls, who naturally, have bagged their own favourites: Kim’s favourite product is the Intimate Spotlight Illuminator, she says: ‘It adds a beautiful glow to light up the face’, whilst Kourtney likes the Perfect Bronzer Cabana Bronze Waterproof Bronzer, she says: ‘Our bronzer rocks my world – I use it every day’, and Khloe’s favourite product is the Stroke of Midnight Mascara, she says: ‘It creates the faux-lash look without flaking – I’m hooked’.
It has not all been plain sailing for the sisters however, as the name they chose to market their brand caused a trademark dispute with another company with the same name, and they were forced to re-name their cosmetics range. But so far the Kardashian Beauty range has been receiving rave reviews and selling out fast online. A good first effort from the girls in our opinion.
