iZettle New Payment Solution for Small Businesses & Individuals

If you have not yet heard of iZettle and you own a small business, chances are you are missing out on collecting sales and payments from clients. The way iZettle works is that it is a card processing application that is viable with your iPad or iPhone. iZettle offers individuals and small businesses a cheap, easy and convenient way to accept card payments and there is a fast set up, with very affordable rates, no merchant accounts, monthly fees or set up costs. iZettle has the ability to improve your sales and save you money at the same time! The iZettle application was first launched in Sweden back in the summer of 2011, it then became available to individuals and small businesses across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. And now iZettle has travelled across to the United Kingdom. If you own a small business in the UK, you already know that your portable card processing solutions are limited to offerings of bulky terminals on long fixed-term contracts. This means that you have to pay high rates for expensive terminal rentals no matter how many (or few) sales you are actually making.

One of the great things about iZettle is that no matter how small or mobile your business is, you can now take secure card payments anywhere with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and you pay one simple rate of 2.75% per transaction (2.95% for American Express). Thanks to iZettle you don’t need any bulky card terminals and you do not incur any fixed monthly costs. Having iZettle as your main payment method means that you’ll never miss a sale again. The iZettle UK beta is usually available by invitation only but here at Shoppersbase we have a unique link for you to be able to download the iZettle application for free.

The iZettle application includes the following:

  • Includes FREE chip-card reader and iZettle app
  • Great value card processing solution
  • Pay per transaction – 2.75% for MasterCard and Diners Club payments (2.95% for American Express) Visa acceptance: date TBA
  • Take card payments anytime and anywhere with iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
  • Drastically increase sales with iZettle’s affordable and innovative payment solution
  • Completely secure solution
  • No set-up fees – absolutely FREE
  • No merchant account, fixed fees or contract
  • As featured in the Wall Street Journal and The Times

And the security for iZettle is first rate. The service is EMV approved and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard, PCI DSS. No sensitive data is ever stored on the mobile device and all data traffic from iZettle is encrypted.

How the iZettle works with iPad

Create your own product library with pictures, descriptions, variants and prices of the products that you want to sell.

Then, when you sell something, tap its picture or manually enter an amount. You can add a description and take a photo if you’d like. Then tap ‘Pay’.

Insert your customer’s credit card in the card reader (or manually enter the card details on the screen).

When the purchase has been approved, ask your customer to sign on the screen to confirm.

Send your customer a receipt via email.

How the iZettle works with iPhone

Exactly the same principle as before. When you’re selling something, manually enter an amount in the app.

Here is a picture of Amber Atherton (from the reality TV programme Made in Chelsea). She’s the founder of boutique jewellery company My Flash Trash and recently started using iZettle to accept card payments at London Jewellery Week. “Not having a credit card terminal has meant we’ve missed out on business when at trade shows over the past couple of years”, Amber told iZettle. Well, not anymore. Now Amber brings along her iZettle whenever she is hosting a pop up shop or a sale. Since these sales can take place anywhere from festivals in a field to Mexican Night Clubs and Afternoon Teas, Amber is thrilled to be using the iZettle service.
