How to Raise Funds by Hosting a Fashion Show

Schools are always looking for ways to raise funds. One fun way is to host a fashion show. Initially, it may seem that it would be difficult to host a fashion show but it need not be. To host a successful fashion show, you just need to be very organised and do a number of dress rehearsals.

Organise the Clothes for Your Fashion Show

Check with a couple of the retail outlets in your area, you will likely find that they are willing to let you borrow clothes for the model to wear in exchange for credits on the program or a simple thank you. Try to get a selection of clothes for different looks such as casual, formal, etc. You should ensure that the models understand that they need to look after the clothes properly.

The clothes are, after all, only on loan and need to be returned in pristine condition.

Train Your Models

A fashion show usually consists of models strutting their stuff on the ramp. The reason that models are so confident on the ramp is because they practise so much. If at all possible, assemble the ramp beforehand and allow the models to practise. You can use this as an opportunity to get a wide variety of kids involved. A fashion show is a fun way for kids to boost their confidence.

Raise Money through the Fashion Show

Sell tickets to your fashion show – start by getting the school children involved. You can raise funds in several other ways – you can have a photographer take photos and charge parents for prints – be sure to use a good quality digital camera and only pay for prints. Serve a dinner or, at the very least have drinks and snacks available to sell.

Make sure that everything is Fun and Light

The main thing is to ensure that everyone has fun.

Do not become such a taskmaster that everyone is on edge on the big day. The key to a truly successful event is to make sure that everyone is relaxed and having a good time. At the end of the evening be sure to thank everyone for their help and make especially sure to thank any sponsors.
