For this collection Gok has taken a 1940s American twist, and dare we say, given more than a nod to Downton Abbey, with some fabulous fitted pencil skirts, slimline trousers and jersey knits.

There are also flattering flared skirts, forgiving blouses that cover a multitude of sins and if you need some extra help in the support department, look out for Gok’s pieces that feature his trademark hidden support systems.

This is Gok’s tenth collection for Tu at Sainsburys, and marks his second year for designing for the supermarket.

With his clever eye for creating flattering and eye catching designs, Gok’s latest collection is made up of 22 pieces which capture a true quintessential British style, complete with Houndstooth prints, cable knits and layered luxury.

Speaking about his tenth collection, Gok said: “Party season is a non-stop rollercoaster of work functions, family do’s and get-togethers so I wanted to create a Winter collection that has it all. By mixing beautifully detailed fabrics, with classic figure enhancing styles, all the work is done for you.”

And the hugely successful designer added that this season it is not about flashing the most flesh: “This season my designs are about being sexy and embracing curves but also about being demure and covered up.”

Gok Wan came to the nation’s attention with his innovative TV show ‘How To Look Good Naked’, but it was his friendly but no-nonsense approach that won over legions of female fans.

And it seems that Sainsburys are pretty pleased with the designer too, and Gok’s collections show no signs of losing popularity.

James Brown, Director of Tu Clothing says: “The Gok for Tu range has been a fantastic partnership for us over the past two years and continues to go from strength to strength. This year we’ve been selling one piece of the collection every 14 seconds. Gok’s philosophy of empowering women by creating beautiful, flattering clothes that inspire confidence resonates perfectly with our customers.”
