It’s the chance for clever fashionistas to grab a designer bargain at a fraction of the price; so when Target announces their latest collaboration, everyone sits up and takes notice. And if the 3.1 Philip Lim limited edition range is anything to go by, you’d better get your camping gear out, as the shelves were declared empty after about half an hour.
The LA Times reported that shoppers were allowed into the Target store at 8.00am, five at a time, and behaved well enough, that’s until the handbags arrived. Then all hell broke loose. The 150 shoppers, some who had been waiting since the early hours of the morning, completely stripped the shelves, leaving the racks clean.
So do we think that the same thing will happen with Peter Pilotto? Absolutely! The British label has garnered celebrity fans on both sides on the pond, such as our own Christine Bleakley, who wore several Pilotto dresses on the Dancing On Ice shows, and model Miranda Kerr and actresses Sienna Miller and Kerry Washington.
But what us Brits are most excited about, is that unlike previous Target collaborations, this range will also be available in the UK, via the designer website – Net-A-Porter.com. The designer-styled site will stock a limited range of pieces from the collaboration from February 9, 2014, and we can’t wait!
One half of the designer duo, Peter Pilotto explained by they had decided on the collaboration: “By working with Target, we’re able to broaden our reach and bring our design aesthetic to an entirely new audience,” whilst the co-creative director Christopher De Vos added why is was so important: “This is a pivotal moment for our brand. “Our collection for Target embodies the elegance and spirit of our own line, but makes it accessible to everyone.”
Although the trailer video does not show any sneaky pieces, we are hoping for some of the label’s signature bright digital prints in electric hues.
Peter Pilotto has long featured on Net-a-Porter, and fashion director, Holli Rogers is pleased that the label has received global success: “We think Target is an amazing brand and have long admired their exceptionally produced designer collaborations. We have believed in Peter Pilotto for years, and being able to offer our global customer base accessibly priced pieces from such a talented design duo is such a phenomenal opportunity.”
Target released a statement in which they revealed that the limited-edition range will include everything ‘from flirty frocks and skirts to chic clutches and swimwear’ and will be fabricated of ‘kaleidoscopic prints, bold color combinations and sculpted silhouettes’.
The line will be sold in majority of Target stores nationwide from February 9th 2014, but if you can’t get to a Target store in time, make sure you check out the collection online, through Net-A-Porter.
