Get Nautical for Cowes Week

It’s Cowes Week this week, the largest sailing regatta in the world and a highlight of the UK’s sporting calendar. Having been held since 1826 it now stages up to 40 daily races for around 1,000 boats. At Cowes the social life is as important as the racing making it a unique event each year that reminds us why we just love boats and sailing. If you’re in the mood to be nautical, we look at how you can bring sea and sail into your home.

If you want to push the boat out then nothing beats this magnificent antiqued porthole cabinet from Alexander and Pearl. Offering plenty of storage for the home office or sitting room, it is handmade and painted by hand using a build of of combined paints to create an authentic aged look. US yachtsmen visiting the Royal Yacht squadron clubhouse at Cowes, England were surprised at the lack of locker rooms, showers and docks. Even a bar was absent.
