If you are one of those ladies who only ever wears baggy maternity jeans and a loose fitting t shirt when they are pregnant, but dream of looking gorgeous and celebrating your ever growing bump, you can do worse than look to your favourite celebrity for inspiration. 2012 has seen a huge amount of A lister Hollywood stars declaring themselves in the family way, from Maggie Gyllenhaal to Reese Witherspoon.
But is it easy to emulate our film star chums or should we stick to being frumpy and unglamourous when we are expecting? Of course not! If they can do it so can you! You may not have the cash to splash on designer clothes but by simply taking a look at how they are mixing and matching tops and bottoms, using accessories and the kind of fitting and shape the garments have, it’s not that difficult to have a celebrity maternity look for a fraction of the price.
We have selected some of our favourite and best dressed celebrities from here in the UK and across the pond and taken some simple tips to give you the inspiration to find your own style whilst you are carrying your precious little one.
Sienna Miller looks as cool as a cucumber in these tone washed jeans, a crisp Breton top, and fringed jacket as she celebrates her first ever pregnancy. To copy Sienna’s look, we’ve found this gorgeous Scoop Neck Welted Hem Striped Jersey Top by Autograph at £10, these fabulous Maternity Straight Jeans by Vertbaudet, reduced to £19.50, and to finish the outfit, this stunning Black Front Tie Shrug by Kaliko for £38.
Singer, actress and fashion entrepreneur Jessica Simpson has always opted for a figure-hugging wardrobe throughout her pregnancy and it has suited her. Although, now she is getting much bigger, she may go for more flattering shapes to camouflage her bump, but here she looks gorgeous in this bright red wrap dress. We found a similar looking Raspberry Red Tulip Maternity Dress from Tiffany Rose for £115 but we reckon it is for special occasions only.
Singer Sophie Ellis Bextor always looks immaculately turned out so her being with child should not mean any change from her usual fabulous stylish self! In this picture she is dressed in a lovely, polka-dot design by Dolce & Gabbana. You do not have to spend designer pounds however, as we have found this Maternity Dress from Red Herring that feature cute little bows for half price at Debenhams at £19.60. Or, if you love the idea of polka dots but are bored with black, then how about this Tan Polka Dot Maternity Dress, again from Red Herring, at only £14.
Now that Peaches Geldof is pregnant, she has never looked so beautiful in our opinion, and here, at London Fashion Week, she opted for a Victoriana look with this ethereal gown to show off her ever growing bump. If you love this look, take a gander at these couple of dresses, again from Tiffany Rose, first up the Claudia Maternity Gown for £225, and secondly the Georgia Gown for £495.
