You get lovely little touches with this machine, such as a light under the mixer head so you can see what you are beating in the bowl, a tilt-back and lock down function so that you can add ingredients as you beat, and the machine also has an automatic sensor that can tell whether a batter is light or heavy and adjusts accordingly. There’s also the scraper beater which ensures you get all the mixture from the bowl.

Kenwood kMix KMX050 – £378.99

stand mixers

This stand mixer is available in lots of different colours and has a modern look about it. There’s a large bowl of 5L and 8 speed settings with an electronic sensor that keeps a consistent beating action going. We love the see-through mixing bowl and splash guard but the best feature is the fold setting, which is a gentle action for softly beating without losing air from the batter.
