Five Great Ways to spend your New Years Eve

If you fancy making this NYE a little different than the usual paying to get into your local pub, then have a gander at these exciting venues and what they have to offer on 31st January. From fire dancers with Henry Conway at The Sanderson, ice skating at Somerset House, a seven course Victorian style feast at The Southside to a party in a Moroccan souk, we’ve got your New Year’s Eve party all wrapped up!

If you love Lewis Carroll and the Alice in Wonderland stories then this is the place to be on NYE. Follow us down the rabbit hole and escape into an evening of Weird, Wild and Wonderful at our Alice in Wonderland themed party. Dress in your brightest colours and boldest statements and join us for a number of unusual delights throughout the night including live music and DJs. The Sanderson is hosting The Curiouser & Curiouser World of Henry Conway and the night will include stilt walkers, fire dancers and live music. Tickets: £75 for canapés and a glass of fizz, £160 for a 5 course meal at Suka or £220 for a five course meal at Courtyard (both of which include a £40 drinks tab).

Somerset House

For skating enthusiasts, why not skate into 2012 at Somerset House’s 18th century courtyard? Celebrate 2012 in style at London’s most glamorous ice rink; the 18th century courtyard will be a magical setting for this very special event. Skate to the sounds of live DJ, The Jinks accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Tom Ashe, enjoy champagne at midnight and exclusive access to the River Terrace for a view of the Mayor’s Fireworks on the Thames (skaters £50/spectators £35). Fill up at rinkside Tom’s Skate Lounge with hot chocolate, cupcakes and winter cocktails; burgers and dogs at Tom’s Deli and tapas from Fernandez & Wells.

Maddox is a members only club spread across two floors with an Italian restaurant and The Courtyard – an elegant outdoor space which will come into its own in the summer months. Impressively designed by Samy Chams, the ground floor bar and restaurant are separated from the lower ground floor bar by a stunning glass-encased staircase. Members’ only Maddox club is going public with its Reveillon Brazilian style party complete with complimentary Caipirinhas on arrival, traditional Brazilian feasting supper, Brazilian tunes on the decks and fun in the secret garden. The club is also turning white for the occasion as this signifies luck for the new year. Tickets from £70.

With a decidedly retro Victorian feel, Powder Keg Diplomacy offers historical British fare and urban colonial-style design. Classic British beers and cask ales accompany unusual vintage-style cocktails at the funky Powder Keg bar. Powder Keg Diplomacy is hosting a seven course spectacular with Victorian inspired libations. You’ll feast on Goat’s cheese and beetroot tart with pickled walnut, crystallised ginger; Slow roasted pork belly with Blythburgh black pudding, sweet potato & rosemary mash and Pear and Bramley strudel with whiskey cream. Espresso Martinis should keep you good and perky.

Powder Keg Diplomacy, 147 St Johns Hill, SW11


Come and celebrate the end of the year in style and discover the best of North African gastronomy at Momo on the 31st of December. It may be cold outside but it’s sure to be hot and steamy at Momo’s. Get the party started with a complimentary glass of Pommery Brut Royal and an Amuse Bouche and then choose from starters of Sea scallops carpaccio with Celeriac Confit, mains of Lobster Tagine and desserts including Valhrona Chocolate Plate and Jamaican Pepper Ice Cream, £90pp. Sittings are 6.30 and 8.30 but opt for the latter and celebrate with DJs and dancing.
