Recently I hired a carpet cleaner from my local supermarket and I was so disappointed with the results I went out and bought one. Talking to my neighbours I discovered that we all had different makes, so we had a chat and came up with the good points of our carpet cleaners and the bad points.
Here’s how we got on:VAX W85-PP-T Dual Power Pro Carpet Washer – RRP: £399.00 now £169.00
This is my carpet cleaner and I cannot praise it enough. I have two dogs, one puppy who has frequent ‘accidents’ and it is only when I use this cleaner that I feel the carpet is clean again. What I like best is the two water bins, one for clean water and the other for dirty. It’s very satisfying seeing the amount of dirty water filling up and knowing how clean you are getting your carpet. And the power of the suction is amazing, you can literally feel it sucking on the carpet. No negatives with this cleaner, just make sure you get it on special.

One of my neighbours has this machine and she is very happy with it. She is in her seventies and prefers this machine as it’s lightweight and easy to manoeuvre. It’s also simple to use as you just add hot water from the tap into the water bin. She likes the fast, rotating brushes which really give a deep clean.

This is the cleaner my sister bought after she hired the same make from a supermarket. She is pleased with the cleaning but does comment that the machine is quite heavy to push around, even though the cleaning and the drying of the carpet is second to none. She also says that it seems to use a lot of water and detergent.

Nice machine here for those who do not like uprights, like my sister-in-law. Really easy to pull around and include a large water tank that detaches in a few seconds. A good cleaner for smaller houses, my sister-in-law lives in a bungalow and she says it is perfect for cleaning and storage.

From the sublime to the ridiculous here, my brother-in-law works out of a large office and he needs a carpet cleaner that works on an industrial scale. This one from Karcher works perfectly well for him, it cleans the carpet well enough but is also good when it comes to valeting the cars in his showrooms. He says that the machine leaves the carpets super dry as well, which is a bonus as he often cleans first thing in the morning.
