With the May Bank holiday approaching soon, people are looking to get away for that extra day but what with the atrocious weather, unless you have plans to go abroad, what do you choose when you know that the outdoors is going to be a no go area? A spa break of course! It’s every woman’s excuse to get away! Whilst the raindrops are falling on someone else’s head, you are being pampered literally from head to toe, relaxing in sumptuous surroundings with only the sound of ‘room service’ to wake you from your reverie.
If you cannot guarantee good weather, you definitely want guaranteed good service so where do you start looking if you have not had a spa break before?Well I can recommend Champneys in Tring, Hertfordshire having had the pleasure of staying there for a day spa break. If you fancy wandering round like a celebrity, clothed in a fluffy, white Champneys robe all day, whilst waiting for your next relaxing appointment, inbetween popping into the jacuzzi or lapping up the swimming pool, then head over to their website. As for other spa breaks, I’ve had to research those online. I wonder if my boss would pay for some practical researching? Hmm…

The Scarlet Hotel – Cornwall
A world away from current beauty offerings and promises of everlasting youth, this spa is about wellbeing and you: embracing life with a smile. The spa has luxury tented rooms lit by lanterns and is essentially a quiet, almost spiritual place. The relaxation area has cocoon-like pods swinging from the ceiling where you can drift away following your treatment. There is a big squishy relaxation space where you can chill out and listen to the waves crashing on the beach below. Or you might want to slather yourself in rich mineral mud within our rhassoul, experience a tradtional rubdown in the hammam or try your hand at massage guided by one of our therapists. Outside, a log fired hot tub invites you to stargaze or storm watch and our natural chemical-free pool, cleaned by reeds, beckons you to take a dip. The Scarlet Spa therapeutic offering centres around a series of journeys, each designed to help you find ways of regaining life balance. Journeys can be experienced alone or with a partner or friend. Three to four hours long, they give enough time for you to unwind properly and for us to make a real and lasting difference to your wellness. “We want to give you something that goes deeper than conventional treatments. We know we have succeeded if you go away with a clear mind, a lightness of step and a deeper understanding of yourself” Rebecca Whittington- Spa Creator.
