We featured color-changing hair dye on Shoppersbase recently, but we didn’t think that you could get make-up products that change color. Seems we were wrong, as the latest trend to hit Instagram is just that – color-changing lipsticks that transform when they touch your skin.
These lipsticks are often of the jelly variety or brightly colored themselves in various shades such as green and yellow.
The science behind the color-changing is all due to an ingredient called CI 45410, which is known in the beauty industry as Red 27. Red 27 appears as a clear substance when in the lipstick product, but reacts to the moisture and the pH level on your lips to then adjust the color.
The beauty of these color-changing lipsticks is that they appear to be different colors on different people, thanks to their natural skintone and pigmentation.
