Usually it is the dresses and ball gowns that are the talking points of the Emmys, as with most red carpet events, what the Hollywood stars are wearing is of utmost interest. But an unlikely fashion star stole the show last night, in the form of Edie Parker’s clutch bags.
The old school glamour of Edie’s handheld clutches featured four times on the red carpet last night, as top actresses such as the uber cool Zooey Deschanel, Kerry Washington, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and the sexy siren that is Christina Hendricks all chose Parker’s bags to compliment their outfits.
And one clutch actually made an award appearance, as the clutch carried by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, was carried up to the stage by her onscreen assistant Tony Hale in the comedy ‘Veep,’ as a patishe to her loyal, bag-carrying assistant Gary by holding her clutch on stage.
Showstopping clutches are no strangers to Shoppersbase, and have featured many times on this site, from modern perspex styles to quirky novelty clutches, handheld bags designed to look like book covers, and even a Chanel clutch fashioned to appear as if it is made from Lego!
Edie Parker clutches have been around since 2010 and since then have featured on a few red carpet events, but never with so many Hollywood stars using them as arm candy at this years Emmys.
So why are they so popular with the elite of LA? We think it is because of the vintage vibe, mixed with the modern twist of the design, plus the practicality of the roomy interior.
The designer behind the brand, Brett Heyman agrees: “Our unique, handmade clutches complement the gorgeous red carpet dresses without overpowering them. They are practical and roomy, but not cumbersome. But most importantly, the clutches look incredibly chic and cool! Like a piece of jewelry or wearable art.”
