When Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum became the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, he stated that it was his intention to transform Dubai from an ordinary Middle Eastern city into one of the top tourist destinations in the entire world.
As of today, the city is dotted with building sites which will soon add up to the numerous tourist attractions that have made Dubai so popular outside of the United Arab Emirates. If you are planning on spending a few days in one of the most visited cities in the world, here is a list of attractions that you can not miss.
There are numerous tour operators in Dubai which offer a wide range of safari tours. You may admire the golden sand dunes and mountains typical of this enchanting land whilst having a great time with your friends and family. It is possible to book a tour online or, if you prefer, you may rent a car and go for a little adventure, even though I suggest you request a professional driver if you don’t know much about desert driving. If you are not into vehicles, you may go for a camel ride and, why not, spend the night in a Bedouin tent. The most popular safari tours are Hatta Safari, Hajar Mountains Safari and Desert Wonder Safari. A word of caution: make sure to bring a light-coloured hat and a lot of water to prevent dehydration due to the intense heat.
Monuments and Historical Buildings
Get to know more about Dubai’s heritage by visiting the ancient and centuries-old architectural monuments in the city. Sites like Burj Nahar, Bastakiya, Bait Al Wakeel and The Sheikh Saeed House should be at the top of your list of must-see places. Dubai Museum, in the Al Fahidi Fort, is another place worthy of your time, as it includes some recently discovered artifacts which have been found to date back to 3000 B.C.
Beaches in Dubai
Dubai borders the Persian Gulf and lies within the Arabian Desert, where you may find occasional palms and grasses. Dubai beaches’ fine soft sand and turquoise waters allow you to choose from a wide range of water sports and recreational activities. You should check out Jumeirah Beach, Mamzar Beach or Jebel Ali Beach, which are surrounded by exclusive clubs, hotels and restaurants.
