Hair removal haunts virtually every adult in modern society. For men, being clean-shaven or, if not, immaculately groomed can seriously improve career prospects. As far as women go, society expects us to keep our legs, armpits, bikini area and goodness knows what else as hairless as possible. That amounts to a lot of skin to shave, and the question is always on everyone’s lips; what is the best, most cost-effective way for women to remove unwanted body hair?
Shaving is a tried and tested method. Men tend toward it, and it allows you to remove hair reasonably quickly. A couple of downsides, however, include the cost of high quality razors and quick regrowth. Additionally, the stubble resulting from shaving is far rougher than that of hair that is removed entirely.
Hair removal creams are an excellent idea in theory. In practice, however, they don’t always work as well as you might expect based on commercials and instructions. Another problem is that they can often be quite hard on the skin and you may find them to be not quite ideal. If you want to try hair removal cream, make sure you do a 24-hour patch test to make sure your skin won’t react – apply some cream as per the instructions in an unobtrusive place and wash it off after the required time. Give it 24 hours to ensure your skin does not react.
Waxing is a lovely way to get amazingly smooth skin for weeks on end. Self-waxing is unfortunately flawed as the majority of people find it difficult or impossible to yank the wax strips off in the right manner to remove the hair. The wax is also sub-par; you will get better results paying more to have a professional perform the waxing. If you want to make sure you like it without laying out a decent chunk of cash, try and find a local beauty college. You can often get treatments for far less money there. A downside, of course, is the pain involved in waxing, but if you have a reasonable pain threshold you can easily find this the best method.
Lasers and electrolysis are supposed permanent methods of removal, although some people will require a number of re-dos. While these methods are expensive, they are supposed to save you money in the long run as you will be hair-free for life. However, some people report poor results, so do your research before committing to anything.
Hair removal is a time-intensive part of the beauty regime. Finding the right method of hair removal for you can make a world of difference, so don’t feel tied down to your habitual methods. Find something you’re comfortable with!
