i.Con claims to be able to tell you an awful lot about your sex life, including the number of times you have sex, but let’s get one thing straight, the i.Con is not exactly a condom. It’s actually a condom ring that you place over the condom at the base, and it is reusable.
So what’s the point and what does it do?
The makers of the device, British Condoms, think that we, as a sex-loving nation, want to know more about our sex lives, including how many calories we burn off during sex, how long our sex sessions last for, the frequency of them and so on.
With the i.Con all this information can be measured and stored. Not only that, but you can see how you measure up to others across the globe by inputting your data via the app.
The device works with any type of condom and is water-resistant and, according to the manufacturers, really comfy.
How does the i.Con work?
The i.Con uses a special Nano-chip and sensors that can measure different variables during your sex sessions. Once you and your partner have finished, you use the i.Con app to download that session’s data using Bluetooth. The i.Con has a USB port so charging is easy and takes one hour for a top up, and each charge lasts for around 6-8 hours usage.
i.Con records the following data:
- Calories burnt during sexual intercourse
- Speed of thrusts
- Total number of thrusts
- Frequency of sessions
- Total duration of sessions
- Average velocity of thrusts
- Girth measurement
- Different positions used (currently BETA testing – will have more info in a release coming soon)
- Average skin temperature
All your data will be kept anonymous but you can upload it to compare your performance with friends or the whole world. If you do you can see how you measure up with other people around the globe.
The i.Con is not available in shops at the moment but you can register your interest by signing up here.
It will cost £59.99 each and come with a one year warranty. It’s only available to buy on Britishcondoms.uk, but so far around 96,000 people have already registered an interest.
The manufacturers state that if it is a success in the UK they may consider expanding the sales worldwide.
