She certainly doesn’t need to work, what with her father being the one and only Sir Philip Green, millionaire owner of the Arcadia Group. But this young lady is no Paris Hilton, and it seems she is determined to make her own way in the world, revealing her second foray into the fashion industry with a decidedly rocky collection that her fans will adore. 21-year-old Chloe Green has an advantage over her designer rivals, in that she is designing for her immediate peer group, and knows exactly what is hot and what is not. Her new collection shows off some achingly cool studded ankle boots, long scarves with graphic prints and spiked jewellery. And the autumn/winter 12 collection is being called ‘mature’ by fashion critics.
The reality TV star spoke at the launch of her collection last night at the London members’ only club Sketch, and said: “[It] introduces a rocky edge, mixing up textures of mesh panelling and intricate laser cutwork.” And we love the way she has copied the signature Louboutin way of having a red sole on every shoe, by the way she has used the green in her surname and is now using green soles for her shoes, very canny! At the press launch, Chloe admitted this was what she had done, saying: “The 15-piece collection sees the introduction of the signature charm print etched onto the jade green soles. In addition the range has been extended to jewellery with coordinating designs, contrasting delicate chains with leather, spikes and tough utility pieces.”
Chloe kept the event quite low-key, which was in direct contrast to her previous launch, and suggests she wants to be taken more seriously in the fashion world. Neither her father or any celebrity chums were there to back her up or provide support, but maybe she felt confident in her product to go it alone. Good for her we say! This season sees the last of her pointed toes and more of a block look, with a definite nod to rock and roll and an edgy biker feel, which we love.
It’s definitely reflective of her own personal style, and what we love about this Winter 12 collection is that it mixes soft femininity with a rock edge. The heavy metalwork and mesh paneling add toughness and modernity to the prettiness of rich velvety suedes, intricate laser cutting and tactile textured skins. The footwear collection consists of 15 styles – show stopping heels, essential everyday bikers and tough luxe ballerina pumps. Ankle boots are updated with woven wedge heels, metal work and a modern version of the classic Chelsea boot. Structured knee-high leather designs are given fierce wedge and block heels with subtle gun-metal studs.
The colour palette has a strong black base with metallic highlights softened with girly neutral tones. All styles feature Chloe’s signature green sole, updated this season with a beautifully etched design that incorporates her favorite things in the “Charms” print.
Chloe has extended her range for Winter with the addition of beautiful silk printed scarves and a capsule range of stand-out jewellery. There are two scarves in the collection featuring Chloe’s signature ‘Charms’ print and a new beetle print. Both scarves are oversized and made from fine quality silk. The six piece jewellery range consists of coordinating designs, contrasting delicate chains with leather, spikes and tough utility pieces.
