Burton Snowboards launch new Ski Wear collection with L.A.M.B

Known for her quirky fashion sense, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani is taking her particular style to the ski slopes, as Burton announced yesterday that the 43 year old has designed a ten piece range of outerwear with the high street store. Debuting at the SIA Snow Show in Denver, the collection will retail at Burton flagships and online at burton.com this September.

The collection includes acrylic beanie hats, parkas with extra details such as chunky zippers and military quilting, and wet weatherpants in a houndstooth pattern. Chief creative officer for the project – Greg Dacyshyn said: “The pieces are a unique mash-up of Gwen’s bold style combined with on-mountain functionality,” and added that he hoped the collaboration would ignite other projects.

The collection, known as L.A.M.B for Burton, is said to be ‘superflattering’, the No Doubt singer told WWD in an exclusive interview. And although Stefani has designed other clothing collections in the past, this one was a little more difficult. She said: “The clothing itself is really technical. We haven’t done that before so it was a new challenge,” said Stefani. “We worked really hard on the pants. You don’t think of snowboarding pants as being superflattering by nature so we tried to mix masculine and feminine, which we always do, and give them a really cute fit, then added a tuxedo stripe for that edge.”

Stefani has featured much of her signature street style within the ski wear collection, and you can see the Jamaican influences, which include Rastafarian-style stripes and bright colours and bold prints, are clearly evident.

Ms. Stefani – who has been married to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale for 11 years – launched her famous fashion label L.A.M.B. back in 2006 which stands for Love, Angel, Music, Baby, which was also the name of her debut studio album.

Her other collaborations include a range of clothing for Fred Perry back in the summer of 2012, and more recently she designed a children’s range for budget store Target. Stefani has also launched a fragrance called L.A.M.B which is available in and eau de parfum and a shower gel.
