Their romance began on-screen, with millions watching, and so they decided to screen their wedding online, with live streaming so that all their dedicated fans could watch alongside. Big brother contestants Jay McKray and Louise Cliffe got married yesterday after meeting in the Big brother house, less than a year ago. And millions of fans watched them take their nuptials and say ‘I do’, along with their closest family and friends on the big day. Many romances start in the Big Brother house, as the claustrophobic circumstances lend themselves to close and intimate relationships much faster than normal, but Jay and Louise seemed to take their time and not rush into anything while they were in there. In fact, they did have a parting of ways with Louise worrying the pair did not have much in common and she could not think of things to say to him. But the Geordie fitness instructor and plumber won the former Miss Manchester round by spelling out love messages in sweets on her pillow and making her flowers of out whatever he could find lying about, usually tin foil, and she eventually fell for him.
The Big Brother 12 couple married at the registry office in Durham and then went on to post a series of snaps of the wedding on a website – www.jaylou.net which had been set up especially for their fans to view on the day. A live feed of their nuptials was also streamed throughout the wedding but unfortunately, due to the huge amount of public interest it actually crashed during the wedding. The site read – ‘Louise and Jay wanted to offer a special thank you to their superb fans who have given them such great support since their love blossomed in the public eye live on Big Brother 2011. They decided the best way to do this would be invited all of their fans to the wedding via a live feed of pictures, showing them up close and personal, along with their friends and family. We hope you all enjoy their special day.’
Fans were also able to follow the pair on their Twitter feeds with updates still being added today as they relax and get over their hangovers, with Jay telling followers he ‘needs some scran soon!’. Louise told her followers yesterday, ”Thanks for all your lovely messages, having an amazing time x’ The wedding cake was a simple one but decorated in Love Hearts in a nod back to the romantic gesture by Jay when he gave Louise sweets to spell out messages in the house. The wedding was attended by Jay’s home friends and Geordie Shore stars Jason ‘Jay’ Gardner, James Tindale and Gary ‘Gaz’ Beadle. Fans can watch a video of the engagement below and the website is still up and running for updates on the wedding. Let’s wish the happy loved up couple all the best for their future.
