Since the day that Beyonce told the world, on the VMAs carpet, that she was expecting with her millionaire husband – Jay-Z, we have all been waiting expectantly with her. And the day came last night at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. The superstar showbiz couple had a booked caesarean on January 7thand according to reports from Beyonce’s hometown newspaper Houston Chronicle, ‘mother and baby are doing fine’. Beyonce’s 42-year-old rapper husband Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, was by her side during the birth, according to E! Online. As for the name, it appears that there was some initial confusion as to the order of which name came first. Luckily both Gwyneth Paltrow and E! Entertainment stepped in to put matters straight. Gwyneth used her Twitter account to announce the good news and to give her blessing to Beyonce and Jay-Z, whilst also clearing up the small matter of the baby girl’s name. And E! reporter Ken Baker later clarified that friends of the couple have confirmed the newborn was actually called Blue Ivy. Apparently Jay-Z is also telling friends it is Blue Ivy. The Carter comes from Jay-Z’s real name which is Shawn Carter.
Beyonce proved all throughout her pregnancy that you do not have to be frumpy, just because you are expecting a baby. In fact, she looked as glamorous as ever, wearing designer clothes such as Lanvin right up until her due date. So it is likely that little Blue will take after mummy and be one of Hollywoods most glamorous babies as she has her mother to aspire to. Celebrities from all over the world have already started tweeting their congratulations to the couple, including hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and Rihanna. Russell posted: ‘Congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.’ Whilst Rihanna posted: ‘Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.’ It is not known how much time Beyonce will take off to look after little baby Blue, but chances are, she will want to spend as much time as she can just being a mom for the moment. Well done to the Knowles/Carter family!
