If Christmas is a time when you love to sit around the table with the family and play the latest board game, you’ll be pleased to learn that 2013 has been a great year for new games. From ideas based on iPhone games, to revamps of old favourites, there’s definitely something for every member of the family.

Risk Plants vs. Zombies Collector’s Edition Board Game – $29.99
The legendary board game Risk is teaming up with the most popular iPhone game in the US – Plants vs. Zombies. This is a great new version of the original game that features the same tactics but with the characters from PvZ. The game is double sided and you can play it three ways: defend the towers, mission control or total domination. On one side there’s a map of Brainsborough, where you can play an adapted version of Risk, whilst the other shows the familiar fenced backyard where you choose whether to be on the side of the plants or zombies.
Trivial Pursuit World of Warcraft Edition Board Game – $24.99
This is a fabulous way to test your knowledge of World of Warcraft, with over 600 questions on the geography, characters, enemies, history and much more. Play the game by rolling the dice and answering the category of question you happen to land on. If you answer correctly you can take another turn. Answer a question on a wedge space to fill up your game playing piece.
Ticket to Ride Nederland Game – $26.99
Learn all about Amsterdam’s canals and railways in this game, and all whilst you’re having fun! Move across the board via the railways and admire the countless bridges that you have to cross, however, all routes cost money and you have to pay your tolls with bridge tokens to carry on. You’ll be the winner if you have the most bridge tokens at the end of the game.
Eldritch Horror Board Game – $59.99
Travel around the world and work to battle against the forces of evil, unraveling mysteries and secrets as you go. You play the role of a globetrotting investigator and you have to gather clues, battle against foul monsters to push back the advances of an Ancient One – the unworldly being who is intent on destroying our world. Fight against each Ancient One who comes with their own set of mysteries and clues.
MONOPOLY: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary Collector’s Edition – $49.99
A great new version of Monopoly that celebrates America’s most popular film of all time, the Wizard of Oz. features a 3D pop-up center, a new board design and two new ways to play the game. The traditional houses and hotels of the original game have been replaced with farmhouses and Emerald Cities, and there are 22 of the top locations featured in The Wizard of Oz, which start off in sepia and transform into color, just like the movie.
Zombicide Toxic City Mall Expansion Board Game – $49.99
Everyone loves a good zombie board game don’t they? And this one is an expansion on the original Zombicide game. You play the role of one of the survivors (each with unique abilities) and by using teamwork and skill you have to defeat the zombie hordes. There are four new survivors (including their Zombivor versions) each with new skills that play alongside the six Zombivor versions of the 2012 core game heroes, and all set in a modern shopping mall.
