The beginning of a new year is a great time to experiment with a new hair color, so what’s looking hot this 2015 and what should you steer clear from?
Expect to see glossy bright metallic hues in a range of bronzes, auburns and golds, and dark highlights that give a more sophisticated edge over last year’s dip dye ombre.
The main point to note about hair color trends for 2015 however is that they are all natural looking colors, so no purples, blues or weird pastels this year. The emphasis is really on earthy reds, metallic golds and coppers, platinum blondes and rich chocolate browns.
Why not see which color is your favourite and whether you dare to change your look this year?
Golden Brown Hair Color
Not just any golden brown, lush, rich silky highlights with an all over shine that start midway at your ears and frame your face beautifully. Miranda Kerr shows off exactly how this shade can add a new dimension to dark brown hair. Have them as bold highlights or as the new trend – babylights, which just pick out tiny strands in your hair, as the sun would a baby’s fine hair.
Auburn Brown Hair Color
Can’t make up your mind between brown and red then opt for in-between auburn highlights that pick out the natural waves in your hair. Auburn highlights are a great way to mix up the flatness of all over brown hair as well, and you can start from the top or opt for the ombre look. We’re used to seeing Cara Delevingne with blonde hair, but she shows how auburn highlights add a mature look.
Rose Gold Hair Color
Blondes can have much more fun by adding subtle copper and gold tones to their hair, resulting in a warmer, funkier style. Use big bold strokes of gleaming bands or be gentler with the brush for a more understated and sophisticated look. Jessica Chastain looks glamourous and quirky with these rose gold shades.
Bronze Hair Color
Brunettes who want to spice up their look for 2015 should stick with an ombre style but add bronzed golden highlights for an instantly youthful look. Make sure the hair is well conditioned and has a glossy shine, like Jessica Biel here, with super conditioned bronze lights cascading from the crown.
Chocolate highlights Hair Color
Light or mousey brown hair that is just one tone can look flat and dull, so give it some love by adding rich, deep chocolate tones in a glossy high quality shine to vamp up a sexy style. Start from the mid face downwards to create a soft frame. Lily Aldridge captures this sexy and sultry look perfectly.
Copper Hair Color
Super rich metallic copper has been trending all last year and signs are that this is the color to opt for if you want a dramatic look. Celebrities such as Emma Stone, Amy Adams and Julianne Moore often dress up their natural copper tones by mixing lush metallic hues as highlights.
Blood Red Hair Color
It’s not just famous celebrities such as Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine that dare to go blood red, many of us are turning to this stand out color for a head turning look. If you fancy this look, remember to pick a natural blood red shade and not a burgundy one.
