Which is the Best DAB Radio for you?

Why fiddle around with knobs and buttons when Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) can offer crystal-clear listening?

Nowadays DAB radio has even more stations than FM and although they are certainly more expensive, they are showing no signs of being switched off in the future.

It makes sense to buy a good quality one now and reap the rewards for years to come.

Just remember to check your DAB coverage before you fork out.

This super-smart device has features galore, from DAB, DAB, DAB+, FM and Bluetooth. And if you have a premium Spotify account you’ll be pleased to know that it also has Spotify Connect. This means that you can play tracks on the radio direct from your account, controlled by your smartphone.

There’s a handy, big remote control and the sound is great. We also love the design, quite retro, yet still manages to look contemporary.

Sony Portable clock radio with Bluetooth - £150

A great little portable from Sony here, one packed with features that include a rechargeable battery.

It has DAB and DAB+ radio as standard, as well as a Bluetooth connection so that you can stream your own music from any of your mobile devices.

Good quality sound which is loud enough and the battery should last you up to 25 hours.

If banging out rocking sounds with a powerful bass is your thing, then this beauty is your man. The radio has a subwoofer on the back as well as your standard DAB, DAB+, FM, internet radio and Spotify Connect. It works well on the higher frequencies too.

No Bluetooth on this one yet, but word is an adaptor will be available to clip onto the side later this month.

John Lewis Astro - £59.95

John Lewis have been quietly pioneering their own brand of radios, and have garnered a loyal customer-base. This is a good example of a budget-buy done well.

The large LCD screen is dimmable over 9 brightness levels, which makes it great for the bedroom. There are two settable alarms, one which connects to the radio and one to a buzzer.

For the price the sound is not bad either.
