Argan oil, or ‘liquid gold‘ as it is sometimes known, is derived from the seeds of the argan tree fruit in Morocco. Argan oil contains vitamins such as A and E and essential fatty acids. These have been proven to rehydrate, moisturize and have anti-aging properties. Also contained in argan oil are Sterols, Polyphenols omega 6 and 9 and unsaturated fatty acids. These properties can help to protect soft tissue and neutralize free radicals.

Many shampoos now contain argan oil, because it is brilliant at hydrating and smoothing your hair. It does this by entering the hair shaft and improving the elasticity of your hair, whilst simultaneously stimulating the hair growth. The other benefit of argan oil is that it can repair the damage caused by overheating and the sun at a cellular level. This makes your hair both stronger and more healthy looking.

Argan oil can be used in a shampoo or even on its own. You can apply argan oil to the ends of your hair which might have split, and it also prevents everyday damage chemicals, pollutants and styling. Argan oil gives your hair an amazing shine, whilst strengthening it at the same time. People who suffer from frizzy or out of control hair can also benefit from using argan oil, as it can smooth brittle hair, and make it less likely to break.

Typically, products that contain argan oil can be more expensive to buy than other shampoos. But with so many benefits, it’s not surprising that women are prepared to pay a little extra for the wonderful properties that it provides.

If you are looking for products with argan oil, for those who have split ends, we recommend serum type products that you just put on the ends of your hair. Check out TRESemme Salon Smooth Serum 30ml, which you can buy from most stores, or try MoroccanOil Original Oil Treatment, available in a 100ml bottle and you can actually use on hair extensions. If you have the actual oil you can also simply add it to your favorite conditioner, and leave on for a few minutes to get a deep conditioning treatment.

Those who suffer from an itchy or dry scalp can also use the natural oil by working it into the roots and washing out the next day.

For those women who have frizzy or untamed hair, it is best to use an all-over product, such as Ultimate Blends The Marvellous Transformer Shampoo, which contains Moroccan Argan Oil and time-honoured Japanese indulgence Camellia Oil.

And if you are wondering what our celebrity stars are using, we can tell you that Marion Cotilard’s favorite is La Sultane de Saba Argan Oil, which contains 99% of argan oil alongside rose and vitamin E.
